We are the Kachelmannwetter team and are looking for a person (m/f/d) who - just like all of us on the Kachelmannwetter team - has a great enthusiasm for the weather and at least as much enthusiasm for backend processing, APIs and web technologies 🙂
In short: We develop specialized systems for recording, processing and displaying weather data for a wide range of B2B and B2C applications. To strengthen our development team, we are looking for an experienced backend developer with solid technical expertise and enjoy working with complex and large data sets for high-performance applications.
Your responsibilities would include, in particular:
-
Development and maintenance of backend systems for processing meteorological data
-
Development of APIs for internal and external applications
What you should bring:
-
Experience working with Linux/Unix systems
-
Proficiency in shell scripting
-
Strong knowledge of PHP (or a similar scripting language)
-
Experience working with APIs
-
Confident use of GIT in daily development work
-
Motivation to learn the specifics of meteorological data
-
Good self-organization, flexibility, and attention to detail
-
Interest in continuously improving existing processes and solutions
Nice to have:
-
Knowledge of DevOps technologies such as Docker, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
-
Basic understanding of common web and system architectures, including more complex ones
-
Familiarity with data formats of atmospheric models such as GRIB, NetCDF, and/or GeoTIFF, including the ability to process them with packages like ecCodes
-
Geoinformatics knowledge
What we offer you:
In return, you’ll not only receive a competitive salary but also enjoy working with a friendly and nerdy team of colleagues. You can, if desired, complete your tasks entirely from home, i.e., 100% remote work.
-
An innovative working environment in a future-oriented industry
-
Independent work in a motivated and collegial team
-
Flexible working hours with the option to work either on-site in our office (Sattel, Switzerland) or remotely
-
Varied tasks and development opportunities
